These Allsorts Sugar Cookies are a fun and colorful twist on the traditional candy. These cookies, with their vibrant colors and delicious buttery base, are ideal for adding a touch of whimsy to your dessert table.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Food coloring gels black, red, yellow, and white

Instructions:

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy

Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together

Divide the dough into four equal portions

Leave one portion plain and tint the other three portions with black, red, and yellow food coloring gels

Wrap each colored dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour

Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper

Take a small amount of each colored dough and roll them into thin ropes

Arrange the ropes of dough next to each other and gently press them together

Roll out the combined ropes into a rectangle and trim the edges to form a neat shape

Use a sharp knife to cut the rectangle into smaller rectangles or squares, resembling Allsorts candy shapes

Place the cut cookies onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving a bit of space between them

Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden

Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely

Once the cookies are completely cooled, you can use white food coloring gel to add additional details and highlights

Enjoy these delightful Allsorts Sugar Cookies
